Major Update Needed

Yes, that's right, I haven't written since CHRISTMAS! Things have been a little crazy around here. Therefore, a major update is needed. I will not bore you with gross detail on every little thing that has been going on around the Harper household, but some highlights are definitely necessary.

I honestly can't remember everything that has happened since Christmas in chronological order, but I'll do my best. The last several months have been pretty darn tough. Not going to lie. But there have been some fun times in there too.

The New Year started off with a bang. The kids got to spend a week with their Mother, Tim and I got to have a vacation. We spent some time with family in Oklahoma. The only downside was that I got sick as can be. :(  I still got out and about and had a great time with everyone. It was a very much need respite!

After Oklahoma and after being at their Mom's we all got back to our routines. I got back to being HR, doing interviews, conducting drug tests, hiring and firing. Tim got back to working 10-12 hour days, 6 days a week and HATING every single bit of it. We starting seriously talking about what it would look like if he changed jobs. We both started to actively look for new jobs. The only thing that held us back was the salary we were currently making. How were we going to support a family of 5 on anything less than what we had currently? Also it was going to take some time to look for another job. Meanwhile, I was becoming more and more unhappy at home. I was parenting 2 teenage girls and 1 tween boy by myself for the most part. And they aren't my kids! It wasn't because Tim didn't want to help or because he wanted to be disengaged. He was wiped out! He had nothing left to give after work. And I don't blame him one bit. I thank God that we worked together during that time and I understood what was going on at work. If I didn't it would have been 10x's worse!
Okay, moving on to the good stuff! We had met (thankfully) 2 families through our kids.....they made friends at school, we met the parents, we became friends. :) Love how that works out. Well, one night at a BBQ Tim was introduced to an HR Manager for a company here in Benton (where we live). They chatted for a minute but we had to run. The following week, Tim saw her again at the ball park where Drake had baseball practice. He told her about the job search, etc. Long story short, TIM GOT A NEW JOB!!!!!! PRAISE THE LORD! He now works for CoorsTek in Benton and it's about 8 mins from the house! The money is still good and he's not a manager! :) He's only been there a month, so we are all still getting used to it, mostly him, but we are very excited and VERY grateful!
I am still at West Fraser for the time being, but would love to get out of there sometime soon.

Shortly after that we got to go to Memphis for Easter. My entire family was in town and we had the best weekend we have had in a LONG time. Here are A LOT of pictures from the weekend. :)

This weekend was not only about Jesus' ascension, it was about HAIR! The girls were doing each other's hair every time we turned around. They had a blast!

LOVE these girls!!

We are now in mid-May rounding out the school year. The kids are itching for summer and ready to get back to El Dorado. Which how can I blame them? It's their 1st "year" here. I can't say I wouldn't want to go back "home" either.
They are all going to finish the year with the best grades, attendance, and health they have ever had. This school year has been rough. On everyone. But in the end God is Sovereign and we have to trust in Him. That is the hardest lesson to learn (and I still haven't learned it yet).  I fear the unknown. I fear how they kids will be when they return after 6 weeks of summer visitation with their Mom, but again, it's not in my control. Praise the Lord it is not. Surely I would mess it up. So for now, I am going to work on trusting that HE WILL HEAL, REDEEM AND RESTORE!

By His Grace
