Miss Sally

There are all kinds of "yard dogs" that hang around the sawmill, but there is one in particular that stands apart from the rest, Miss Sally.  I don't know why I named her that, but I did. She is an australian shepherd-border collie-mutt mix, but still so cute!  Who knows, she might end up a Harper one day. :-)

One Month

We have officially been in Arkansas for 1 month (Tim has been here a little bit longer). We are pretty much settled in, but still have some unpacking to do. We love our rental house.  The location is great and we are really enjoying the town where we live.  It takes us about 35 mins to get to work everyday, but the drive is so nice, and traffic free, that we don't mind.
Work is going well. Tim and I are both incredibly busy which makes the days go by faster.  Tim is exactly where he should be.  His job is challenging, hard, and a pain most of the time, but he loves being back in the mill.  When he is happy, I'm happy.
It has taken me a little while longer to get in the grove of my job, but I'm coming around. I think I might have found a new niche. Might be a new career for me. I do have to say, that it can be pretty entertaining at times.  We are definitely happy here and glad for the change.  We miss Memphis and miss our family & friends, but it sure is nice to come visit!

My Birthday

Last weekend Tim and I got off work, loaded up all the dogs and headed to Memphis.  It was our first trip back to Memphis since we moved almost a month ago.

We started out with breakfast Saturday morning with my Dad and Grandmother.

Next on the list was to do some shopping with my Mom and Tim.  Since we can wear pretty much whatever we want to work, I desperately needed some jeans and a few new shirts.
We made it back to the house just in time to get ready for my little birthday party. With some of my all time favorite people!

It was a great Birthday and a great weekend! Exactly what I needed!!

My Drive to Work

One of the biggest changes for me has been work.  Not only the job itself, but also the distance and the location.  However, I must say that the drive to work has it's advantages in my book.  This is what I get to see every day going to and from work.

And this is what I see when I get to work.....

This is the log deck. The log trucks come in and unload. To the left in this picture is the Sawmill.

This is the office building. The log yard that is in the picture above is in at my back at this point.

Just another picture of the log yard and the crane.

This is the Sawmill. Directly to the left of the Sawmill is the front office.  Yes, I can hear the mill running all day long. :)

More pictures to come.  I'll get some pictures of Tim's part of the mill soon.

Our Move, Part II

When we found out we were moving to AR we had quite a hard time trying to find a house to rent.  Houses were either too big and cost too much or they were too small and had wheels attached {if you know what I mean}.
We were given 7 days for house hunting and along the way we had some fun and did a little sight-seeing.
Here are some pictures from our sight-seeing.

Hot springs in Hot Springs, AR.

Something about being in AR makes me want Waffle House....

Lake DeGray near Hot Springs, AR

This is what you get when you ask for "cheese grits" at the Waffle House.

Our Move, Part I

We began our move on January 16th.  The movers showed up and got right to work.
In no time at all our house looked like this.

Later that afternoon I had to go on and leave for AR since I was starting work the next morning.  I also had to take the 4 harry children with me and drop them off at the kennel along the way.

Needless to say, that was a very long ride.

More to come!
